Grand Dussehra Mahotsav at Hare Krishna Mandir, Bhadaj Draws Thousands of Devotees

A spectacular celebration of devotion, culture and the triumph of good over evil

Ahmedabad, October 20, 2026: Thousands of devotees gathered at ISKCON Hare Krishna Mandir, Bhadaj, to celebrate the grand Dussehra Mahotsav on Tuesday, marking Vijaya Dashami and commemorating the glorious victory of Lord Shri Ramachandra over the demon king Ravana. The festival unfolded as a magnificent blend of devotion, Indian culture and spiritual traditions, filling the temple premises with religious fervour and festive enthusiasm.

Speaking on the theme “Dussehra Mahotsav: Re-spiritualisation through Culture,” Swami Sri Jaganmohan Krishna Das, President of ISKCON Hare Krishna Mandir, Bhadaj, said that the Dussehra season awakens deep religious and cultural sentiments among people. ISKCON seeks to enrich these celebrations by integrating the timeless principles of Krishna consciousness and the spiritual heritage of India, making festivals meaningful and inspiring for people of all ages.

One of the most captivating highlights was the splendid procession of Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madhav, adorned in beautiful Sri Sita Rama alankars, riding majestically on the Swarna Vahana. Accompanied by devotees performing Sankirtana and chanting the holy names of Lord Ramachandra, the procession created an atmosphere of divine joy and spiritual splendour. A special dramatic presentation of Rama Lila further brought alive the sacred pastimes of Lord Shri Ram and Mata Sita, enthralling the audience.

The grand burning of the 60-foot-high effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnath emerged as the evening’s most spectacular moment. As the towering effigies went up in flames amid fireworks and enthusiastic cheers, the gathering celebrated the eternal message of Dussehra—the triumph of righteousness over evil, truth over falsehood and virtue over arrogance.

The celebrations concluded with a grand Maha Arati offered to Sri Sri Radha Madhav and Sri Sri Sita Ramachandra at a specially arranged Ram Darbar, creating a deeply moving and devotional finale.

The annual Dussehra Mahotsav at Hare Krishna Mandir, Bhadaj, continues to serve as a vibrant platform for preserving India’s cultural heritage while nurturing spiritual values, promising an enriching and soul-stirring experience for generations to come.
