Gujarat Technological University (GTU) organized its 8th Tech-Guru Award Ceremony on 5th September 2026 (Teachers’ Day) at GTU Chandkheda Campus, Ahmedabad, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

8th Tech-Guru Award Ceremony: GTU Honours Outstanding Teachers on Teachers’ Day

Gujarat Technological University (GTU) organized its 8th Tech-Guru Award Ceremony on 5th September 2026 (Teachers’ Day) at GTU Chandkheda Campus, Ahmedabad, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

The ceremony is a prestigious annual tradition of the University, instituted in 2019 to honour teachers in the field of technical education for their outstanding contributions to teaching, research, innovation, and society at large.

For the 8th edition of the Tech-Guru Award, GTU received 81 applications from across Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Computer Applications, and Applied Sciences. After a rigorous evaluation process covering research publications, projects, patents, industry collaborations, and community service, 13 applications were shortlisted. From these, 7 distinguished faculty members were conferred with the Tech-Guru Award across experience categories of 0–10 years, 11–20 years, and above 20 years.

Moreover, 8 principals and heads of department from Government Polytechnic Institutes who retired last year were specially felicitated for their lifelong contributions to the advancement of technical education.

In addition, two faculty members from Vishwakarma Government Engineering College (VGEC) were specially felicitated for their dedicated contribution towards teaching and mentoring underprivileged and needy children.

The ceremony commenced with a Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Jain, Director, GSMS, who emphasized the importance of acknowledging the pivotal role of every teacher in nurturing students’ academic and personal growth.

Keynote Addresses were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Anil Bhardwaj, Director, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, Prof. (Dr.) Rajul Gajjar, former V.C., GTU, and Prof. (Dr.) Navin Sheth, former V.C., GTU. All of them highlighted the invaluable role of teachers in shaping society and guiding students’ futures, and also spoke about the duties of a Shishya and the role of a Guru.

In his Presidential Address, Prof. (Dr.) Vaibhav Bhatt, Honourable Vice-Chancellor (I/c) of GTU, spoke about the significance of teachers as nation builders and explained that the role of a teacher is not only to teach students but also to groom them. He praised their dedication towards advancing knowledge and innovation.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Utsav Gadhia, Academic Officer, GTU, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and participants.

The 8th Tech-Guru Award Ceremony once again reaffirmed GTU’s commitment to celebrating excellence in teaching and fostering a culture that honours educators as true nation-builders.
