Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launch eco-friendly ‘PM eBus’ service in Gandhinagar : 100 electric buses, modern facilities, cashless ticketing and an important step towards eco-friendly public transport.
The scheme will be operated by Gandhinagar Greenline Transport Service Limited (GGTSL) on PPP model. The cost of this scheme across the country is estimated at Rs 57,613 crore, of which the Central Government’s share is Rs 20,000crore.
An official statement said that all buses were fitted with electronic ticketing machines (ETMs), enabling passengers to make cashless payments through QR codes, UPI and other digital payment modes.
A depot and charging infrastructure was set up at Sargasan at a cost of Rs 17 crore, the statement added.
The service will operate on 18 routes, connecting major locations in and aroun Gandhinagar, including Sargasan, Pathik Ashram, Secretariat, Gandhinagar Railway Station, Mahatma Mandir, GIFT City, Chiloda, Dahegam, Kadi, Kalol, Chandkheda, Dhamasan, Naradipur, Sonipur, Kotha, Adraj Moti, Tintoda, IIT Gandhinagar
