SVNM Trust’s landmark initiative in Navsari aims to restore vision, empower the visually impaired and make quality eye care accessible to all
Ahmedabad, October 26, 2026: Bringing hope to millions living with vision impairment, the Swami Vivekananda Netra Mandir Trust (SVNM Trust) is set to establish ‘Drashti Dham’, a world-class super-specialty eye hospital at Supa village in Navsari district, Gujarat, at an estimated cost of ₹450 crore. More than a medical institution, this visionary initiative aims to transform lives by making advanced, affordable and free eye care accessible to the underprivileged.
Spread across approximately 16 bighas, the proposed hospital will feature 200 beds, 21 operation theatres and 64 OPD rooms. With the capacity to perform around 1.20 lakh surgeries annually, it will offer advanced treatment for cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, corneal diseases and other complex eye conditions.
Dr. Bhavinbhai Patel, President of SVNM Trust, said the hospital’s mission is to relieve the suffering of people with eye ailments and restore their confidence through high-quality, affordable or free treatment, particularly for those who cannot afford specialised medical care.
Adding a deeply compassionate dimension to the initiative, Dr. Dishantbhai Gandhi, CEO of SVNM Trust, announced plans for a rehabilitation centre for people with complete vision loss. Through mobility guidance, digital literacy, daily-living skills and vocational training, the centre will help visually impaired individuals become independent, confident and self-reliant.
The Trust’s commitment to service is already making a meaningful difference. Under Project Drashti, more than 420 eye camps were conducted between 2023 and 2026, screening over 51,800 people and facilitating 11,531 free surgeries. Its other initiatives include Drashtimitra, skill development for visually impaired persons, mobile eyeglass services through Chashma Rath, door-to-door screenings and the collection and redistribution of used eyeglasses.
As part of its ‘Ghar Ghar Drashti – From Vision to Service’ initiative, a cultural programme featuring renowned artist Mayabhai Ahir will be held at AUDA Auditorium, Ahmedabad. Furthermore, Param Pujya Shri Morari Bapu will deliver Shri Ram Katha from December 5 to 13, 2026, at the Trust’s Supa campus.
With ‘Drashti Dham’, SVNM Trust seeks to illuminate not just eyes, but countless lives—turning compassion into care and darkness into hope.
