The government’s new guidelines for the Gyan Sahayak Yojana have been announced, all old resolutions have been cancelled and a new integrated resolution has been announced.
The revised guidelines introduce increased age limits, updated merit criteria, and clearer hiring procedures to fill teacher shortages.Max age limit fixed at 48 yrs for secondary and 50 yrs for higher secondary schools

A key provision in the revised policy allows recruitment based on academic and professional qualifications.
The maximum age limit has been fixed at 48 years for secondary schools and 50 years for higher secondary schools as on the date of application. Selected Gyan Sahayaks will receive a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs 24,000 for secondary schools and Rs 26,000 for higher secondary schools through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT). The appointments will be purely temporary on a contract of up to 11 months and will automatically terminate on the last day of the academic year. The government will consider an increase in the honorarium after completion of two years of service.
Candidates who have cleared the two-tier Teacher Aptitude Test (TAT) will be given first preference for appointment as Gyan Sahayaks. If such candidates are not available, applicants who have passed TAT in any other year will be considered. In the absence of TAT-qualified candidates, graduates with BEd will be eligible for secondary schools, while postgraduates with BEd will be eligible for higher secondary schools. Merit for TAT-qualified candidates will be determined on the basis of TAT scores, while for other eligible candidates it will be based on the average percentage obtained in the final year of their academic and professional qualifications..
