Gopal Snacks Limited, one of India’s leading companies in the organised traditional snacks segment, has committed 100 per cent of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budget to the Mantraushadhi Suvarnaprashan Movement, a preventive healthcare initiative focused on strengthening immunity among children.
The company has been associated with the programme as a donor since May 2023 and currently allocates approximately Rs. 1.5 crore annually to the initiative, which benefits more than seven lakh children every month.
Since Gopal Snacks’s association with the programme, a large number of children have shown noticeable improvement in immunity after receiving just three to seven doses. In many cases, children with recurring health issues and severe complexity have also benefited due to stronger immunity.
The practice of Suvarnaprashan declined over time but was revived through extensive research into Ayurvedic scriptures by Shri Vishwanath Datarji of Varanasi, who undertook over 38 years of study and experimentation to restore the original formulation and method. He started the free Mantraushadhi Suvarnaprashanam Movement in 1970 and today after 55 years, the initiative operates through more than 850 centres across India with 1600+ volunteers working for the same cause. The initiative aligns with the objectives of preventive healthcare and the Fit India Movement. The movement brought about lasting impact by addressing child health at a systemic level and mobilising society and institutions toward sustainable change.
Bipin Hadvani, Founder of Gopal Snacks, said, “Healthy children are the foundation of a strong nation. After witnessing the impact of the Mantraushadhi Suvarnaprashan, we felt a moral responsibility to support it wholeheartedly. Allocating our entire CSR budget to this initiative shows our belief that social responsibility must create lasting value, not just visibility.”
He added, “The CSR funds generated through the hard work of our employees are being channelled into a cause that strengthens the future of the country. Preventive healthcare for children is not an expense but an investment in India’s tomorrow.”
Mantraushadhi Suvarnaprashan Movement is based on classical Ayurvedic principles described in ancient texts such as the Kashyap Sanhita. Traditionally administered as a preventive health practice for children, the formulation is prepared by Sanskruti Arya Gurukulum using Pure Gold Bhasma, Honey, Vacha, Brahmi, Shankhpushpi, and other selected herbs accompanied by prescribed Vedic chants. It is intended to enhance immunity, support digestion and improve overall physical and mental well-being.
On 24 March 1990, Shri Vishwanath Datarji was conferred the President’s Award by the then President of India, R. Venkataraman, in recognition of initiating this Mantraushadhi Suvarnaprashan Movement that contributes to the field of child health. The honour marked a historic milestone, acknowledging his leadership in initiating the first successful child health movement in post-independence India .
With this CSR initiative, Gopal Snacks is investing in a well-structured effort to nurture a healthier future for children, and we encourage like-minded partners to come forward and be part of this change.
