Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Religious

On Sunday, 10/8/25 at 3:30 PM, the School of Science and Arts of Ahmedabad University hosted a Haveli Music presentation by Acharya Shri Ranchhodlalji.

In this event, as a young composer, lyricist, and musicologist, Acharya Shri presented and discussed his composition-based treatise “Raagangarnav Ratna” through both discourse and vocal performance.

Along with Acharya Shri, co-contributors to the book, Dr. Lakshmi Shriram and Dr. Aditya Chaturvedi, shed light on his compositions from the perspectives of music, literature, history, and philosophy.

The gathering began with the felicitation of Acharya Shri, during which the college Dean, Dr. Raghavan Rangarajan, presented him with a memento, a shawl, and other honors. Information was shared about Acharya Shri’s contributions to the research and innovations in the Raagangarnav treatise.

The first presentation was Ashop Raag Shri Ang Gauri’s “Janmashtami Badhai – Aaj Badhavau Nandrayke,” a composition by Surdasji. This was followed by the main subject of the book discussion – the melodious rendering of both Raagangarnav Ratnas.

Acharya Shri’s special compositions, such as Kaushik Ang’s “Ae Malkaun So” and Sarang Ang’s “Aaj Sarang Vrindavipan,” with their subtle tonal variations touching upon different ragas within the same raagang, proved to be highly captivating for the music-loving audience.

The event concluded with the presentation of Rang Machyo Sinhdwar, a composition by Govindswami, in Raag Adani Malhar.
In accompaniment to Acharya Shri’s singing, Hiren Soni played the pakhawaj, while Arpit Mandviya provided soulful support on the sarangi.

The entire program was attended by various enthusiasts, students, professors, and devoted listeners.
