The UGC and the Indian Language Committee recently conducted a one-day workshop in New Delhi for university vice-chancellors. The vice-chancellors of the university were actively involved in the event. UGC will produce UGC Reference texts and textbooks for higher education in 12 languages in accordance with the New Education Policy. Books will be compiled in the following languages: Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, and Gujarati. These books will be prepared in a progressive manner for various subjects within the primary disciplines of Science, Commerce,andtheArts.

In the Gujarati language, books will be prepared for eight distinct subjects in the science stream each semester. The UGC has entrusted the responsibility to Prof.  Kishorbhai C. Poriya, the Vice-Chancellor of Patan University. Prof. Poriya will also serve as Shreyan Adhikari, with the aid of the Chancellors of Gujarat Central University and Gujarat Technology University. All of the team’s responsibilities, including the selection of authors for each of the eight subjects, book composition, analysis, and book accuracy, have been assigned to Prof. Kishor C. Poriya. This is a moment of great pride for Hemchandracharya NorthGujarat​​University.


The initial semester will encompass eight subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, Computer Science, and Biotechnology. This workshop was supervised by UGC Chairman Prof. Jagdish Kumar, Secretary Prof. Sanjay Murthy, and Chairman of the Indian Language Committee Prof. Chanurup Shastri. This workshop was attended by vice-chancellors from 104 distinct universities. The Indian language ecosystem, a multilingual dictionary, and various online portals of Asmita were launched following scholarly discussion.


Renowned academicians and senior officers from prestigious Indian institutes, including CSTT and ICTECI-ANUVADINI, were also in attendance. In the language committees of each state, ten Vice-chancellors were established through mutual appropriation of knowledge and inquiry. As a nodal officer of the Gujarat Language Committee, Prof. Shrivastav, the vice-chancellor of M.S. University, was present. In addition, the Vice-Chancellors of ten universities in Gujarat have been admitted as members.
