Varsity Schedules Remedial Mech Engg Exam For Semesters 3 & 5 The Same Day And Time; Students Failing The Subject In Both Semesters Can Appear For Only One
Yet another goof-up in the examination schedule has left diploma students enrolled in mechanical engineering at Gujarat Technological University (GTU) in a dilemma. The remedial exam for the subject -Human Resource Management in Mechanical Engineering- has been scheduled on July 3 for diploma students of Semester 5 and Semester 3 at the same time.
This means students who have flunked the subject in both semesters will have to choose either to clear the backlog of the subject for Semester 5 or Semester 3. Students and college principals have raised concerns over the same subject exam for different semesters being held at the same time on the same day. According to them, there are over 800 students in Semester 6 who have failed in the subject in previous semesters. “These students will have to miss one of the exams (either semester 5 or Semester 3) which means their backlog status will continue,” said a college professor. The professor said as of now the varsity has planned to go ahead with the exam on July 18 which has left students in a lurch. Registrar KN Kher however said they have been organising the exam in the same pattern for the last many years and there has never been a complaint about overlap. “The case of alleged overlap doesn’t seem true,” he said.
