Cyclothon about Tobacco prevention ends in Vadodara

Cyclothon’s route passed through six districts covering 220 kilometres.

The cycle tour spreading the message of harm caused by tobacco and its ill effects on life and COTPA 2003 concluded in Vadodara on Wednesday. Organized by Faith Foundation, the cyclothon was flagged off from Mehsana by the Minister of Health, Rushikesh Patel and former deputy CM – Nitin Patel with the main objective of creating awareness and motivating people specially youths about staying away from tobacco for a healthy life.

As part of the month-long campaign against tobacco and on the occasion of ‘World No Tobacco Day’ 2023, the team of 15 cyclists and 40 volunteers successfully paved the sun and heat for a cause – SAY NO TO TOBACCO. With the benevolent cause of promoting the theme of WHO – We Need Food Not Tobacco, the team have covered about 220 kms starting from Mehsana District to Vadodara.

“The Cyclothon spread the message in villages and cities in collaboration with the State Tobacco Control Cell-GoG, GovtAyurvedic Hospital Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, District Health Panchayat Ahmedabad, Nadiad and Anand. The volunteers performed skit on the Cigarette and other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA 2003) at about 10 locations on the way which also included guidelines on Smoke fee villages, Tobacco Free Educational Institution (TOFEI), Smoke Free Public places and others,” said Susan Samson Project Director, Faith Foundation.

The cycle rally having started form Kadi village proceeded to Kalol & RupaalGandhinagar Sector 22 and then proceeded to the Ahmedabad Sabarmati Riverfront, Jetalpur PHC Ahmedabad, PHC-Arera village Nadiad, PHC Mogar Village Anand.
